Public Education Program (PEP)

The Public Education Program (PEP) is independently offered and administered by the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters and is available to non-traditional advertisers, such as state and federal agencies and non-profit organizations.

Through the PEP, eligible agencies and organizations are provided the opportunity to undertake an affordable electronic media campaign of epic proportion. Over the 25+ year lifetime of this program, participating agencies and organizations (PEP Sponsors) have recognized the tremendous benefit of having their important messages reach more people through this one easy and cost effective method.

PEP Announcements will...

  • Reach all demographic groups.
  • Be seen and heard in all time slots and formats.
  • Be broadcast by radio and televisions throughout Louisiana.
  • Provide a direct link to more people than any other media.

PEP Announcements...

  • May “educate”, “promote”, “warn”, “help”, etc.
  • Must be “non-commercial” and “non-political”.

How the PEP Works!

  • The PEP Sponsor (organization or state/federal agency) and the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters (LAB) enter into a cooperative endeavor (contract) for the purpose of promoting public awareness of the agency or organization’s needs, programs and/or services.
  • The PEP Sponsor provides the LAB professionally produced radio and/or television PEP spots (example: 15-second and/or 30-second), including appropriate sponsor ID tags, in a predetermined format (one-inch, BETA, VHS, reel, CD, etc).
  • LAB distributes the PEP spots to radio and television stations throughout Louisiana and actively promotes the voluntary airing of the spots.
  • The Louisiana Association of Broadcasters tracks the airing of said PEP spots; compiles the data; and, on a regular basis, provides reports to the PEP sponsor.
  • Although no “guarantee” may be given, based on “past performance”, the PEP Sponsor may expect, at least, a 5-1 return on its investment.

What is the Cost of LAB’s PEP?

  • Amount varies according to terms of agreement, services to be rendered and duration of campaign.
